About the Scholarship
The Francis Gregory Foundation was established in 2012 to provide financial support to children of primary producers to assist them to undertake university undergraduate education by reducing financial barriers.
The Foundation will provide two scholarships of $6,000 per annum (for the duration of the undergraduate degree) to students whose main family income is derived from primary production. This amount will be paid to the student in two sums. The amount of $3,000 will be paid after confirmation of enrolment is received (and after census date) and the balance will be paid on commencement of Semester 2 (and after census date).

Eligibility
Applications will be considered from students who meet the following requirements:
are Australian citizens.
are registered 2024 VCE students who achieve an ATAR score of greater than 80 and are between the ages of 17 and 20 years at 1 January 2024.
are residents of Victoria in an FZ zone (as defined by Victorian Government Department of Planning and Community Development) and must reside on the land producing the family income.
whose parents own and operate the property from which the main family income is derived. Please note applicants who are dependents of farm employees are not eligible for this scholarship.
have demonstrated financial hardship in relation to pursuing university study.
are proposing to accept a full-time undergraduate place at an Australian university in 2025.
or
are proposing to undertake a gap year (one year only, 2025) and will accept in 2025 and defer until 2026, a full-time undergraduate place at an Australian university.
have their scholarship application submitted before the closing date.
have their application endorsed by their school principal.
Selection criteria
Selection of scholarship recipients will be managed by the Francis Gregory Foundation Scholarship Selection Panel and approved by the Trustees of the Francis Gregory Foundation.
Applications will be individually assessed, with all applications treated in the strictest confidence.
The Francis Gregory Scholarship Selection Panel and Trustees will consider the following in selecting scholarship recipients:
demonstrated commitment to achieving academic excellence
demonstrated leadership in their local community; for example, participation in community organisations, events, sporting clubs etc., volunteering and/or mentoring experience, sharing family roles and responsibilities, and extracurricular roles at school.
managing or overcoming personal difficulties, i.e. financial disadvantage, remoteness, loss of family member, cultural issues
The principal of the student’s school must endorse the application by initialling each page of the application. In doing so, the principal states that to the best of their knowledge, the information provided by the student is true and correct.
Conditions of Scholarship
The scholarship will be awarded with the following conditions:
Each recipient must satisfactorily progress through their chosen undergraduate degree with the condition that every unit of study must be passed.
Each recipient must remain as a full-time student unless there are exceptional circumstances preventing this. For the scholarship to continue, approval would need to be gained from the Trustees of the Foundation for changes to study plans.
Each recipient will be required to meet with the Trustees of the Foundation in a mutually accessible location at the end of each year of study.
A recipient/s may be granted a scholarship in 2025 to commence study in 2026 (i.e. after undertaking a gap year).
N.B. If granted a scholarship, the recipient/s must provide written proof to the Foundation of their acceptance and deferral of the 2026 undergraduate university placement by 31 March 2025
and
by 31 December 2025 they will notify the Foundation in writing that they will be commencing such placement in 2026.
It is the recipient/s responsibility to provide this information, failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
